Wow I'm shocked by the harshness against Marilyn Monroe. I love classic cinema and Marilyn is one of my all-time idols. That said, I don't think Catie looks like her here. Aside from the body, Catie being straight and skinny and Marilyn being curvaceous, Marilyn's pictures always exuded a certain twinkle in her eye, a charm, a smile behind them that Catie lacks. Catie is pretty, but she does not own the look. And DAMN, if you're not SKINNY, a person is not FAT by default - especially not Marilyn Monroe
^ Manson is more attractive than Catie. But Bryan, you're one of the few to think she nailed it...I guess I can't expect people who've never seen Marilyn Monroe before make an accurate compairison.
^I think it looks sorta like a man in a wig. None of the shots in particular this week were terrible, but if I had to pick the worst, either this or Camille's. But Catie has too much potential to go home.
I second David. I really don't see what is so bad about this shot. Ok, sure she isn't the exact clone of Marilyn partly because she isn't Marilyn but Catie! As an impersonation this is very good. I love the attitude and the body looks great.
^ She looks liek she's sticking her ass out for dear life! From a Marilyn lover to you guys, I guess I shouldn't expect you guys to really understand her fan's view points.
I understand what you are saying though. Her pose is a little bit too Jayne Mansfield. But the trouble with this shoot was that you had to either get completely into the skin of the fashion icon. Or at least have repeated viewing of Marilyn on film, Catie needed a little bit more context. She didn't have that 50's sensibility because it is so distant from today. She went with a stereotype, the only thing she knew about Marilyn. The swimsuit didn't help things, so easy to be overtly sexual.
