^^Autism is probably better known, so I could see a magazine using the word autistic even if it's not exactly the case just to get people to read the article. To be technical, though, what Heather has, as she said, is Asperger's, which is related to Autism. It is one of the ASDs (Autism Spectrum Disorders), of which there are 5 subtypes: Autism, Rett Syndrome, Asperger's syndrome, Child Disintegrative Disorder, and PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder not otherwise specified).
